Reflection & Gratitude
Something about a webinar
This one started like an end-of-year post, lol. Last Saturday, I connected with some members of this wonderful community on a live webinar where we broke down the financial cups. I’ll be honest—I didn’t expect the turnout, and for this, I am grateful.
Driving impact is a big reason for my writing, and when friends and community members go the extra mile to listen on a Saturday evening for almost two hours, it is fuel to do better. Here’s where everything went boom: thirty minutes before the webinar started, and my laptop decided that it was a good day to lag hard. I couldn’t cry—I had slides and a beautiful sheet prepared to drive the point home to my audience, but tech had other plans.
So I switched to my mobile device, quickly downloaded Teams, and launched the meeting with no slides, no sheets, and we couldn’t record it (I am really sorry). It felt like an exam where the test was to know if I actually wrote the entire series, lol. Well, it went well—as everyone went home with good points for financial management.
In case you missed it, I once again apologize for not having a recording ready. My village people don’t know me, so I can’t even push the blame on them. I’d share the link to my slides and the Google Sheet in this post, so here is what you are going to do:
Enter your income on the sheet and see the approximate breakdown for each cup.
Adjust as needed—raise and reduce percentages to fit your economic goals.
You don’t need to start with all the cups; Operations and Savings for a start is a good push.
Read the slides if you are not sure of which cup you should put that fund in.
Remember: no two people have the same %, so our template is a demo, not reality.
We are working on a live event in February to bring everyone together and have an open house on careers, growth, and of course, financial cups. I meet with Ife almost daily to review our sponsors list and see who we can pitch to for support. We haven’t found one yet, so hey community, link us up if you know of any brand or product (startup or growth company) that we can pitch “Starting Out ‘26” to. A form will be out soon for you to indicate interest in attendance.
In the meantime, let us allocate December funds, shall we?

That moment when your laptop crashes before a big presentation is honestly the worst. But the fact that you pivoted to mobile and still deliverd a solid two-hour session shows real mastery of the content. I like that you're sharing the slides and sheet anyway so people can work through it themselves. Do you think starting with just Operations and Savings is enough for someone completly new to this, or would you recommend adding another cup early on?
