If you live in Lagos, you'd agree with me that the past few months have been one way or another. Who else feels like April came with too many bills? Just when I thought January had come and gone.
Should we anticipate the month of May as a saviour from sapa's threats? Someone on Twitter said we are already living in the good old days, why does that feel scary all of a sudden?
Nigeria never gets better, in fact the whole world doesn't, but this is why growth is amazing. You can get better everyday. I naturally like to write about youths and the possibility of building ourselves beyond the obvious present. But all work and no play… you know the rest.
We hardly live in the moment, because we are all obsessed about building a career and saving money. Most importantly, not making mistakes. How about socializing and growing simultaneously, sounds impossible?
When people invite me to networking seminars and conferences, I always have a weird feeling about the corporate culture. That formal setting can feel uptight and demanding workplace etiquette.
But on a social level, I perform better, it is easier to flow when there's no rule saying you must. Tell me something, where did you find some of the best connections you gained so far? Social or corporate settings?
True, many of us operate differently in terms of conversing within a group, but would you rather discuss with your next client or HR at a picnic or across the interview table?
This is why I've never missed an edition of the agoyin special event, always a room to vibe and connect. Funny how I got my first job on that platform.
On the 29th of April, 2023. The fourth edition would be happening. Here's the best part, if you just need to chill and take a break, it's an amazing atmosphere.
Venue: Ndubuisi Kanu park, Ikeja
Time: 12pm
Date : 29th of April.
Ticket fee: 5k (covers feeding, refreshments and the entire package) —- Ticket sales are online, not at the venue
See you there? Oh, one more thing, there's giveaways from brands and this is not a raffle draw, everyone wins.
Tell your friends, let's have a picnic, let's make larger connections on a fun diet.
Yours playfully,
Biodun
